The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is hiring a Portfolio Support Associate for its Green Transition initiative in Dhangadhi. This position is responsible for supporting the implementation of municipal-level green development projects, helping build inclusive systems, and ensuring coordination between local authorities and the national UNDP team.
The associate will play a key role in strengthening the capacity of local governments, facilitating project activities, documenting lessons learned, and ensuring that gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) are fully integrated into all interventions. The position is based in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City and reports to the National Portfolio Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of green economy projects in Dhangadhi
- Facilitate training, mentoring, and learning activities for municipal teams
- Provide logistic and administrative support for portfolio activities
- Coordinate with local stakeholders and maintain effective relationships
- Organize meetings, consultations, and learning exchanges
- Assist with data management, documentation, and reporting
- Ensure gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) are integrated in all interventions
- Promote a respectful and inclusive work environment
- Collaborate with city officials and the UNDP team for knowledge sharing
- Submit regular reports and document lessons learned
Eligibility to apply
Education:
- Secondary education (Grade 12) is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Rural Development, Social Science, or related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience with secondary education
- Minimum 4 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree
- Experience in communication, coordination, and monitoring
- Familiarity with municipal planning and local governance
- Background in working with governments or international organizations
- Skilled in documentation and report writing
Skills Required:
- Strong communication skills
- Coordination with multiple stakeholders
- Event planning and logistics
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Report preparation and documentation
- Understanding of GESI principles
- Teamwork and collaboration
Preferred Knowledge:
- Local governance structures and policy frameworks
- Capacity building and training at the local level
